Paynter, Hugh Haweis

Born on 14th November 1865, he was the son of Reginald Hearle Paynter (1831 – 1875) and his wife Mary Davies Haweis (1837 – 1905). He joined the Royal Navy as a cadet in 1879 and served until 1888 when he relinquished his commission; he went on to the Emergency Royal Naval List in 1896. In 1890 he married Beatrice Louisa Barkworth (born 1866) and had issue two daughters, Ann and Donnett. Following his service in the Navy he worked for the engineering firm of Vickers-Armstrong and travelled extensively on their behalf.
