Tobin, John

John died of an apoplectic fit at his home in St James’s Parade. In his will he left £100 to his wife and asked to be buried in the north aisle of the Abbey ‘where Roman Catholics are buried’. He was the son of William Tobin of Paradise Street, Rotherhide. He had a brother, Michael, who left Cowes on his last voyage to Grenada in April 1772, and who was a member of the Society of Masters of Ships.
